If you're interested in making a site map for your website, in my opinion http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ is the place to go for the information. They pretty much spell it out for you. They help you to create the Google XML file, the ROR file which is for any search engine, a text file for YAHOO, and an HTML file for human visitors. Later.
